IN RECOGNITION OF THE MECHANICS BANK

FIRST GREEN CERTIFIED BANK IN BERKELEY & BAY AREA

 

WHEREAS,  THE MECHANICS BANK Downtown Berkeley Office has been recognized by The Bay Area Green Business Program as being the only bank in the Bay Area who is green certified; and THE MECHANICS BANK is the first bank in the City of Berkeley to be recognized as being green certified; and

 

WHEREAS,  The Bay Area Green Business Program required THE MECHANICS BANK Downtown Berkeley Office to be tested for pollution prevention, water conservation, energy conservation and solid waste management; and

 

WHEREAS,  Following suggestions from the Bay Area Green Business Program on new ways to implement green practices in these areas, THE MECHANICS BANK Downtown Berkeley Office earned the distinction as a green certified business; and

 

WHEREAS,  THE MECHANICS BANK Downtown Berkeley Office is an ecologically sound business:  The bank uses measures to prevent pollution, such as using Green Business approved chemicals for cleaning and pest abatement; conserves approximately 20 gallons of water per day; conserves energy by using only machines that carry the “Energy Star” label, voluntarily keeps selected lights off, and has committed to an ongoing recycling program.

 

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT I, TOM BATES, Mayor of the City of Berkeley, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby recognize THE MECHANICS BANK under the management of Raudel Wilson for your hard work and effort to become Berkeley’s first green certified bank.  You are to be honored for leading the way for more banks in the Bay Area to become ecologically friendly.
